Log of the High Council Meeting on 11/27/17

Log of the 516th Session of the High Council of Britannia.

DaKaren: Welcome to the 516th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: Welcome back after the impromptu break... *frowns slightly*
DaKaren: I shall briefly recap recent events.
DaKaren: The Cult of Rythela is likely to be no more, as the object of their devotion is dead.
DaKaren: Good riddance.
DaKaren: The Heartless Heirs, a group of undead mercenaries, has resurfaced. The motivation of their leader appears to be rooted in pure hubris.
DaKaren: I cannot help but notice that we may have become jaded as to the caliber of the evils that face us.
DaKaren: *sighs*
DaKaren: However, we must not allow besting multiple archdaemons and "gods" to blind us to more mundane threats.
DaKaren: We must remember that the Titan's puppet master remains unknown...and that he or she is keenly aware of Sosaria's impertinent attitude towards their machinations.
DaKaren: At the same time, we should keep spirits high as we head into winter.
DaKaren: Speaking of...this year's Artisan Festival should begin on this Friday - starting in Yew and working its way through the cities in reverse-alphabetical order.
DaKaren: Governors, please contact Destinie Moon to help her coordinate and ensure the expedient growth of your city's tree for maximum gift distribution.
DaKaren: Help Great Lakes, once again, upstage Atlantic. *winks*
DaKaren: Also starting December first, nominations for the next cycle of city elections.
DaKaren: Voting should, if pattern holds, begin on the eighth.
DaKaren: I hear that Jhelom will be the city to keep a close eye on this cycle, as there will be at least three candidates.
DaKaren: Good luck to incumbent and newcomer alike.
DaKaren: Grand Marshal Hla'ate, would you address the Council on military matters in the Kingdom?
Malag aste: Thank you Chancellor.
Malag aste: As some of you may be aware there have been sightings of some of my kind about.
Malag aste: I have attempted to find out what their intentions are but so far that is unknown...
Tanda: *nods*
Malag aste: As a result, though, I think it's high time we resume training....
Malag aste: I wouldn't want us to get lax.
Malag aste: So we will hold a training on the Wed following this one.
Malag aste: Beginning at 8pm under the central stars
Malag aste: Meeting at Yew Gate in Trammel.
Malag aste: Please be prepared.
Malag aste: It's time we brush up on our fighting skills.
DaKaren: Indeed.
Malag aste: I'd hate to see us caught with our pants down so to speak.
Tanda: such a metaphor
John: * sighs and rolls eyes*
Malag aste: At any rate it'd be good to brush up on some skills..
Malag aste: *grins*
Malag aste: Other than that we need to keep searching for this puppet master...
Malag aste: And since Siet passed away we are in need of an investigator.
Malag aste: If anyone knows someone qualified...
Dr Jerred DeSule: *tilts head*
Malag aste: And it very much bothers me that we do not have a Justicar at present.
Malag aste: This also needs resolved soon.
Malag aste: Does me no good to arrest anyone if we can't prosecute them.
Malag aste: Perhaps we need to work at recruiting someone to fill these roles.
DaKaren: *sighs*
Malag aste: These are my concerns.
DaKaren: And they are valid.
Malag aste: That is all I had right now.
DaKaren: Thank you, Grand Marshal.
DaKaren: Councilor Kivlov, does the Township of Newcastle have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Guntur Kivlov: *looks up*
Guntur Kivlov: Ahem. Newcastle has no news of merit for the Council on this eve.
Guntur Kivlov: Thank you Chancellor.
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Knighthawke, does the city of Minoc have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Tanda: Thank you Chancellor
Tanda: Minoc fairs well, things have been quiet
Tanda: with the coffers maintaining their balance
Tanda: we are getting ready for the Yule season
Tanda: Other than that, we're just watching and waiting
John: *nods*
Tanda: that is all
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Warner, does the City of Britain have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Dot Warner: Aye, thank you.
Dot Warner: Britain's trade surplus continues to grow, and the city has stored more than enough food to last through the coming winter. Paws included.
Dot Warner: I held the Fifth Annual Britain Harvest Banquet last Wednesday and feel that it was a community success.
Dot Warner: Many citizens stopped by for a bite...or an entire keg of ale...and we have a lively discussion about upcoming events.
Dot Warner: I foresee Jhelom needing popcorn vendors...
Dot Warner: That is all, thank you.
DaKaren: Adjutant Thorne, does the city of Yew have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Ariel Thorne: *nervously*
Ariel Thorne: We are very happy that we will be the first to host the Festival this year.
Ariel Thorne: Given that we didn't get the opportunity last year we are looking forward to it this year.
Ariel Thorne: I know Lady Willa is looking forward to the upcoming elections.
Ariel Thorne: Hopefully everything goes well this year.
Skattles II: *chews on Virtue while listening*
Ariel Thorne: I... I believe that was all I had...
Ariel Thorne: O!
Ariel Thorne: Bad dog!
DaKaren: *glares at Skattles*
Skattles II: *tilts head*
Skattles II: mmrff *looks around with book in mouth*
Ariel Thorne: *gives him a bit of an electric bolt to the nose*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Books aren't for eating.
Skattles II: Yipe!
Ariel Thorne: Bad dog!
Tanda: though we do say we digest information
DaKaren: I wonder what he did with the chicken carcass...
Ariel Thorne: *wipes dog spittle off the book*
DaKaren: *sighs*
Tanda: in a week or so you'll know
DaKaren: *wrinkles nose*
Malag aste: If he was good, he ate it
Skattles II: *curls up behind Jerred*
DaKaren: Anyway...Thank you, Adjutant.
DaKaren: *looks at Skattles again*
DaKaren: Does the city of Vesper have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Ariel Thorne: *keeps cleaning spittle from book*
Dr Jerred DeSule: *pats Skattles head*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Stay here, boy.
Dr Jerred DeSule: I'll speak on Vesper's behalf
DaKaren: *nods to the Advocate*
Dr Jerred DeSule: An associate and I have tracked Skattles paperwork down, per city officials' request
Dr Jerred DeSule: He appears to be one of a small litter from a dog or wolf... I'm not yet clear
Dr Jerred DeSule: named Honiahaka. I'm still investigating this further…it's all rather murky
Dr Jerred DeSule: It was good enough for the city. However, with only one day left until the new election,
Dr Jerred DeSule: they have decided to let him carry out his term
Dr Jerred DeSule: In other news,
Dr Jerred DeSule: The Bureau of Justice and Intelligence put forth a reward for 30 million gold for the recovery
Dr Jerred DeSule: of JL Polstan's journal. A man named Mobius was able to find ten pages, which appears to be all
Dr Jerred DeSule: of it.
Martyna Z'muir: *arches a brow*
Dr Jerred DeSule: There's nothing terribly new, here. He details an affair he had and claimed the lock in his
Dr Jerred DeSule: "love dungeon" was simply installed reversed. And hoped to be forgiven
Dr Jerred DeSule: That said, there is something... unusual about the journal.
Dr Jerred DeSule: For example, some words are capitalized that should not be
Dot Warner: Love...dungeon...
Dot Warner: *facepalms*
Dr Jerred DeSule: And he numbered the last page "X", where as the rest are numbers..
Tanda: You don't have a "Playroom"?
Martyna Z'muir: A cipher?
Dr Jerred DeSule: Perhaps he was simply under undue stress and fear for his life.
Tanda: *looks at Dot*
John: * blushes*
Dr Jerred DeSule: I leave it up to the council if I should pursue this further. Perhaps it's nothing.
Dot Warner: Uh...no.
Dr Jerred DeSule: Here are the recovered pages, Chancellor.
DaKaren: *skims*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Did any of the council have questions? And how should I proceed, if at all?
DaKaren: Proceed?
Dr Jerred DeSule: Yes.
John: A question?
Dr Jerred DeSule: Do you wish for me to continue investigating this book. Decipher it...if there is something.
Martyna Z'muir: Burn all his books as a public service?
Dr Jerred DeSule: to decipher at all.
Dr Jerred DeSule: hah!
Dr Jerred DeSule: Yes, John?
John: The book mentioned the pleasure dungeon he created, you said...And seemed...apologetic.
John: Can that not only mean that it was written on the run, after he locked his victim in it?
Dr Jerred DeSule: According to his account,
Dr Jerred DeSule: The 'love dungeon' had a locked door. The lock was installed reversed, and unintentionally.
Tanda: *raises hand*
Dr Jerred DeSule: He was apologetic not about that, but about the affair and the events that transpired
John: * sighs*
Dr Jerred DeSule: *shrugs*
Dot Warner: So, an unrepentant pervert then...
Dr Jerred DeSule: Governor Tanda?
John: *leaning on the wall, looking exasperated, and much like his father*
Tanda: These pages are handwritten? In all the same handwriting?
John: Not all deaths are to be mourned equally...
Dr Jerred DeSule: Yes
Tanda: ok so not like the last page was written by someone else
Dr Jerred DeSule: Yes and yes, best as I can tell.
Tanda: as far as we can tell
Tanda: *nods*
Dr Jerred DeSule: No... the first 9 pages have headings "Page 1", "Page 2" and so forth
Dr Jerred DeSule: the last is "Page X"
Dr Jerred DeSule: Would you like a copy of this journal for yourself?
Tanda: and random capital letters
Tanda: hmm
Dr Jerred DeSule: Indeed
Tanda: given my history I'm not sure I'm the one to read that
Dr Jerred DeSule: *nod*
Tanda: it just puzzles me
Dr Jerred DeSule: Likewise
Dr Jerred DeSule: I will share it with the public, tonight perhaps.
Tanda: let me sleep on it
Dr Jerred DeSule: *nods*
Tanda: perhaps holding pages
Tanda: will allow me to scry
DaKaren: Was it determined that the man truly was deceased, or is that still questionable?
Dr Jerred DeSule: Any other questions?
Tanda: but I'm not sure I want to know
Dr Jerred DeSule: No, my initial assumption appears to be wrong
Dr Jerred DeSule: He appears dead.
John: Do not forget my love you have me to read such tawdry things on your behalf.
Tanda: *blushes and giggles*
John: * smiles*
Dr Jerred DeSule: I'd only thought he was perhaps alive after finding a page
DaKaren: So, this journal was written between the time he locked the woman in his...dungeon...and when he was captured by the 'Men of the Forest?'
Dr Jerred DeSule: It was written between the time he was first kidnapped and his execution
DaKaren: *nods*
DaKaren: Surprising they'd allow him to write, given their supposed motives.
Dr Jerred DeSule: If - a very strong if - you believe his account, it was probably a mistake that the woman
Dr Jerred DeSule: was trapped in his dungeon
Dr Jerred DeSule: By his account, their motives were a sham
Dr Jerred DeSule: *taps finger to lips*
Dr Jerred DeSule: I will ensure I post the full text for the public to read. There's a lot to digest
DaKaren: *nods*
Dr Jerred DeSule: Thank you for your time, council members
DaKaren: Thank you, Advocate.
Dr Jerred DeSule: *nods*
DaKaren: Do any of the citizenry have anything to bring before the High Council this eve?
John: *raises hand*
DaKaren: Lord Knighthawke?
John: *sighing, leaning on the wall and seeming worn*
John: Regarding the Black Watch Mercenaries and Lothar...
DaKaren: *nods*
John: The threat may not be global yet, but we must not underestimate it.
John: He already has tried once for a Shard of the Gem.
John: Also we must...We must accept that there's no happy ending to this.
John: Or, at least, one is unlikely.
Martyna Z'muir: His death will be happy.
John: The matter is too old, convoluted, and personal. The nest of echoes stirred.
John: That is all Chancellor.
DaKaren: Was it ever conclusively proven whether or not he acquired the Gem fragment?
John: From the visions we saw I had the impression he did not.
John: But I doubt he has lost interest.
John: Nor his old employer.
Martyna Z'muir: Whoever they were...
DaKaren: *sighs*
John: Some lich I believe.
John: I have the name written down somewhere.
Martyna Z'muir: The lich is the one who possessed the shard, and whose spells Lothar stole.
DaKaren: Liches… Shards... *sighs*
John: One life at stake is enough for me.
DaKaren: Damn Mondain and his wretched legacy.
DaKaren: Anyone, or anything, else?
DaKaren: Very well then.
DaKaren: I hereby adjourn the 516th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: Go with the Virtues.
