Log of the High Council Meeting on 5/01/17

Post by Lord DaKaren » Sat Jul 22, 2017 5:40 pm

Log of the 505th Session of the High Council of Britannia.

DaKaren: Welcome to the 505th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: As I am sure you are aware, the profession of animal taming has learned new ways to enhance various creatures to better survive our oft violent world.
DaKaren: I suggest asking an animal trainer if you wish to learn more.
DaKaren: A week or so ago, the mage Thariand chose to carelessly delve into a fairly perilous corner or the magickal world: Paradox.
DaKaren: In general, a paradox is something that is seemingly contradictory and yet is perhaps true. However, in magic, paradox generally refers to the manipulation of time or the perception thereof.
DaKaren: A seer's vision is paradoxical in that while the events seen may in fact occur, the very knowledge of said events allows for the potentiality of their alteration...thus making the original vision untrue.
DaKaren: Yet they had to have been true for the change to have even been conceived of in the first place.
DaKaren: As we have seen with entities such as the Time Lord, Exodus, or the oft-careless magicks of the meer eternals, time travel is not to be engaged in casually. If at all.
DaKaren: There is always the possibility to undo all of creation, erase your own birth, or suddenly have multiple copies of oneself. I do not encourage any of those potentialities. *smiles wanly* Very messy.
Jennifer-Marie: *blinks*
DaKaren: Back to Thariand... In his haste to learn, he apparently attracted the attention of one of the more bizarre denizens of the ethereal void...and was either maimed, killed, or replaced by said creature.
Ordnok: *squints*
DaKaren: This creature is now a direct threat to the mages of Moonglow and likely to all Sosarian users of magic.
DaKaren: Lady Z'muir came into possession of Thariand's spells and has since given a copy to the Royal Guard for their use in combating this threat.
Martyna Z'muir: *shudders*
DaKaren: A book of dream spells was also given to the Guard, though it is presently unclear how they relate to the matter.
DaKaren: Please try to limit your interactions with any temporal paradoxes resulting from Thariand's meddling.
DaKaren: If possible...
Janice Andrysiak: Oh.. yes.. of course..
DaKaren: *sighs*
Janice Andrysiak: *glazed expression*
DaKaren: *looks for Governor Diem in the gallery*
DaKaren: *frowns at not seeing him* *sighs*
Janice Andrysiak: *folds her hands into her lap and stares vacantly*
DaKaren: One day... maybe...
Dot Warner: Keep telling yourself that..
DaKaren: Grand Marshal Hla'ate, would you address the Council on military matters in the Kingdom?
Martyna Z'muir: *looks askance at Malag*
Malag aste: So... things with that Paradox are rather concerning we really need to keep an eye on that situation.
Malag aste: Other than that there have been numerous sightings of new beasts all around the land.
Malag aste: So Keep an eye open.
Malag aste: Some are particularly dangerous.
Malag aste: Others not so much.
Malag aste: So keep an eye out and be wary.
Malag aste: I'm not sure when we'll be able to hold another training but hopefully soon.
Malag aste: That's all I have for now.
DaKaren: Thank you, Grand Marshal.
DaKaren: Councilor Knighthawke, does the city of Minoc have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Tanda: Only to remind folks that we're still expecting another wave of visitors
DaKaren: *wrinkles nose*
Tanda: Wednesday we're going out to look about
Tanda: again
John: *nods*
Tanda: I am grateful to all who came
Jennifer-Marie: Perhaps you should build a wall to keep them out?
Tanda: and helped with the last investigation
Tanda: it was disheartening to find they were not willing to negotiate
Jordan: *puts pipe back in his pocket*
DaKaren: Director Asburn said he will have an autopsy report available for you by Wednesday.
Tanda: I appreciate that
Tanda: maybe it will answer some questions
Tanda: and as to the wall, we have mountains
Tanda: that address much of that
Tanda: that's all Chancellor
DaKaren: Advocate DeSule and I will also be sending you technical addendums to the autopsy.
DaKaren: Your visitors are quite fascinating.
Tanda: *raises and eyebrow*
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Warner, does the City of Britain have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Dot Warner: *nods*
Dot Warner: Britain is recovering slowly from the Snake's surreptitious slithering. Both the Kinship of the Rose and the Red Ankh Society have been treating the afflicted.
Ghost: he was a snappy dresser
Dot Warner: I'm planning for the annual Britain Town Social at FitzOwen Green, though I have yet to arrive at an appropriate theme. *sighs*
Ordnok: *grunts*
Dot Warner: Regardless, it shall be held Wednesday, May 31st at 8pm by the central stars.
Dot Warner: A formal announcement will be on the Tribune in a few weeks.
Dot Warner: That's all I have. Thank you.
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
Malag aste: *Salutes*
Guntur Kivlov: *Nods*
DaKaren: Adjutant Thorne, does the city of Yew have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Ariel Thorne: Um... things have been quiet and nice in Yew now.
Ariel Thorne: Um... Lady Willa is doing well.
Ariel Thorne: Oh! I think that's all I had...
Ariel Thorne: *smiles shyly*
Ariel Thorne: Sorry.
DaKaren: *nods slowly*
DaKaren: Thank you, Adjutant.
Ariel Thorne: I'll get the hang of this I promise.
DaKaren: *smiles*
DaKaren: You are doing fine.
Ordnok: How trees in Yew doin?
Ariel Thorne: Oh thank you.
Ariel Thorne: Most of them are quite happy.
Ordnok: Ordnok can't talk wid dim.
Ariel Thorne: Thank you for Asking Ordnok.
Ordnok: *bobs head*
Ariel Thorne: Oh I can't either.
Ordnok: Dat gud.
Ordnok: *grunts*
Ordnok: *nod*
Ordnok: Dat hard. Ordnok gib up on dat.
Ariel Thorne: I think you have to be an Elf of some sort.
DaKaren: Councilor Andrysiak, does the city of Jhelom have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Janice Andrysiak: oh..
Janice Andrysiak: *pulls out some notes*
Janice Andrysiak: Yes.. of course, Chancellor, thank you
Janice Andrysiak: *drops notes*
Janice Andrysiak: *looks distracted and chokes up*
Dot Warner: *looks at Janice's notes*
Janice Andrysiak: I .. was hoping Governor Kittie would be here to discuss the .. umm,
Janice Andrysiak: removal…
Dot Warner: *notices that they are bawdy woodprints*
Janice Andrysiak: of the corpse..
Janice Andrysiak: *sniffles and tries to compose herself*
Tanda: gruesome display in Moonglow?
DaKaren: Corpse?
Janice Andrysiak: I'm sorry.. can you come back to me?
DaKaren: We can..
John: *sighs*
DaKaren: Hmm..
Jennifer-Marie: *blinks at the door*
DaKaren: Very well..
Ariel Thorne: Corpse?
Ordnok: *raises hand*
Ariel Thorne: Did he say Corpse?
Ordnok: Yuh.
Ordnok: Ordnok know wut wrong.
Jennifer-Marie: *whispers* The Author ...
DaKaren: Ah.. Ordnok?
Ordnok: Yuh, Ordnok thank Chancellor.
DaKaren: *nods*
Ordnok: Last week, Ordnok hire sum mercenaries.
Ordnok: Try find missing author.
Ordnok: After a chase, author found ded.
DaKaren: *frowns*
Ordnok: Flayed of skin and... errgghh. Innards.
Ordnok: Hung up for all umies to see in Moonglow.
DaKaren: A public display?
Ordnok: Confession note claim Governor Janice under threat. Da umies who did dat not done.
Ordnok: Yuh.
Ordnok: Still der, last Ordnok saw. Neer docks in Moonglow
Ordnok: *looks to the door, grimaces*
Ordnok: Dat ull Ordnok has.
DaKaren: Thank you, Ordnok.
Ordnok: *bobs head*
Ordnok: *smashes paper lamp under foot*
DaKaren: Hopefully the body can be laid to rest swiftly...
DaKaren: Let us circle back...
DaKaren: Councilor Jennifer-Marie, does the city of Trinsic have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Jennifer-Marie: *nods and looks grim* Trinsic is doing well, though we have had to send quite a few Paladins to Skara Brae to assist Governor Farrah.
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
DaKaren: Is she well?
Jennifer-Marie: As you may - or may not - know, there is an illness taking hold of Skara Brae. She is desperately working with any healer she can find to create a cure ...
Jennifer-Marie: but so far there has been no headway. We are offering protection to the city while they are struggling to take care of their citizens.
Jennifer-Marie: When there is more information, I will share but for now please stay away from Skara Brae if at all possible so as not to spread this mysterious calamity and cause an epidemic.
Jennifer-Marie: That is all I have this evening. Thank you.
DaKaren: I'm sure the Red Ankh Society and or the Kinship of the Rose would be happy to assist...
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Kivlov, does the Township of Newcastle have anything to bring before the Council this eve?
Guntur Kivlov: *ahem&
Guntur Kivlov: Fortunatly, we have been save and quiet.
Guntur Kivlov: I have nothing of merit to report.
Guntur Kivlov: Thank you chancellor
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
DaKaren: Councilor Andrysiak, do you feel up to continuing your repot?
Janice Andrysiak: *clears throat softly*
Janice Andrysiak: I apologize.. I needed a moment.
Janice Andrysiak: JL Polstan is dead.
DaKaren: *nods*
Janice Andrysiak: I have failed my city and have a great deal of reflection to do
Janice Andrysiak: *growls at the fireworks*
Janice Andrysiak: *waves hand dismissively*
Janice Andrysiak: That was all. Feel free to celebrate when I'm not around to hear it.
Janice Andrysiak: *glowers*
DaKaren: Hrm...
DaKaren: We are sorry for the loss of the author.
Janice Andrysiak: Thank you, Chancellor.
Ariel Thorne: Just think now his works will be worth more...
DaKaren: Mister Ordnok said that his murderer has since threatened your life as well?
Jennifer-Marie: Governor Andrysiak, what became of the girl?
Janice Andrysiak: Yes, I fear my life is in danger while they're still at large..
DaKaren: *frowns*
Tanda: I would assume the girl in his room
DaKaren: Please take appropriate measures to ensure your safety...
Tanda: when she couldn't take his life went about her business
Janice Andrysiak: *nods*
Tanda: never really noticed where she went to
John: I told her to go home, whether she did or not I cannot say.
Ordnok: *grunt*
Malag aste: Was rather disturbing...
Martyna Z'muir: Should we really be glossing over the fact there WAS a woman locked in a basement room of his house?
John: No.
Jennifer-Marie: I worry for her mental state ... *frowns*
DaKaren: *sighs*
Malag aste: No certainly not... he was guilty of abduction...
Janice Andrysiak: I was not aware of that...
DaKaren: Locked in the basement?
Janice Andrysiak: *frowns*
Tanda: aye
Ordnok: *grunts and nods*
Tanda: living on chocolates and champagne
DaKaren: Do we know why...?
Ordnok: Dat wut Ordnok hear.
DaKaren: Or is it better not to inquire?
Tanda: they were to have a romantic interlude
Ordnok: Ordnok heer ... mixed .. reasons
Jennifer-Marie: *grimaces* The imagination fills that information in without words
Tanda: and he never returned
DaKaren: Ah...
DaKaren: Better not to inquire.
Malag aste: I agree...
DaKaren: It is good she was freed.
Ordnok: Sum thot accidental.
Malag aste: However do hope the lass found some help.
Ordnok: Sum thot not so much.
Ordnok: *helpless expression*
Ordnok: Bigly sad story.
DaKaren: Thank you, Councilor.
Ordnok: Umies gots strange lives.
Janice Andrysiak: *nods humbly*
Jennifer-Marie: While one could presume Polstan meant to return, and did not mean to be kidnapped and murdered, it still was horrid to lock someone away.
DaKaren: To paraphrase the ancient curse; we live in interesting times.
Janice Andrysiak: He was never that way with
Janice Andrysiak: well..
Janice Andrysiak: *abruptly shuts up*
Dot Warner: With you?
Jennifer-Marie: *stares at Janice*
Jennifer-Marie: *mumbles* that explains a lot ...
Malag aste: *grimaces*
Janice Andrysiak: *gets around to picking up her notes*
John: Aye it does.
DaKaren: Moving on...
DaKaren: Do any of the citizenry have anything to bring before the High Council this eve?
John: *raises hand*
DaKaren: Lord Knighthawke?
John: To clarify about the kidnap victim at the writer's house, at least to the best
John: of my own recollection and knowledge.
John: I note that the room she was in was a distinct dungeon area,
John: with no means of egress for whomsoever was inside.
DaKaren: *arches a brow*
John: I note that my impression is that while she entered the house willingly, I was less clear
John: on her entry into that area.
Janice Andrysiak: *frowns*
Martyna Z'muir: The door was locked from the outside.
John: I note further that it was my impression that her maintenance in that area,
John: most-definitely was not of her own choice or accord.
John: Where there was one there was more.
John: Clearly his taste ran toward the young and flighty.
Jennifer-Marie: Perhaps Jhelom should consider compensation for the young lady's trauma?
DaKaren: Hmm.
Janice Andrysiak: I am so sorry. I had no idea
John: And clearly older women, women last their age of use to someone like him,
John: were of no interest.
Janice Andrysiak: Oh ...
Janice Andrysiak: *eyes water*
DaKaren: Oh dear.
Ordnok: Guh!
John: Finally I suggest that the next line of investigation of this matter,
Tanda: *looks toward the door*
Ordnok: *frustrated grumble*
DaKaren: Perhaps we shouldn't speak ill of the dead...
John: look not toward political matters, but personal one.
John: He had victims.
John: Sometimes victims have angry family members,
John: who think to take matters upon themselves,
John: rather than go toward us.
John: Thank you Chancellor.
Ordnok: Hurrmm...
Malag aste: Well one does not build such a structure without well.... having use of it so I'm sure your right about that.
DaKaren: *nods grimly*
DaKaren: Anyone else?
Jennifer-Marie: *tilts head and contemplates* Perhaps that's what this Men of the Woods gang is all about?
John: This is not my affair save as muscle and sword.
Malag aste: Perhaps.
John: I speak not for the brains behind this investigation,
John: I merely offer suggestions, and an extra sword.
John: My involvement ends there.
Martyna Z'muir: Their leader seems fairly anti-intellectual, not so much into revenge.
Malag aste: Not sure if the case though John was about other victims then why would they now be focused on Janice?
Jennifer-Marie: Simple folk tend to think in generalities.
Malag aste: Not like she was involved in whatever was going on in that room.
John: A question for greater minds than mine. If I am right at all.
Jennifer-Marie: If they are simple, and Polstan - being an educated man - harmed someone they care about and Janice was so very obviously fond of him ... perhaps it's all connected for them?
DaKaren: Any other issues, not author related?
Ordnok: *grunts thoughtfully*
John: I am on this matter a sword and that is all.
DaKaren: I hereby adjourn the 505th session of the High Council of Britannia.
DaKaren: Go with the Virtues.
