How MOA Does Christmas
Posted Friday, December 17, 2004

With the regular MOA Monday staff bound, gagged, and locked up in the castle dungeon, The Obnoxious Elf, Ignorance, Kevin Kringle, and the rest sat around discussing how they could take advantage of the situation...

"You know, those MOA people keep doing the same ole thing over and over", said Kevin.
"It's always auction this, casino that, can't they do anything new and exciting?" the Obnoxious Elf replied.
"I must stop Christmas from coming!" said the Grinch.
"But how?" Ignorance added.

Cindy Lou Who was quietly floating about the storage room, looking for toys to play with. As she pulled out items from the MOA prize stash the Grinch's eyes widened!!!

Then he got an idea! An awful idea! THE GRINCH GOT A WONDERFUL, AWFUL IDEA!

"Let's clean out all these packages, boxes and bags and throw them into the bowls of Hythloth!" cried the Grinch
"They say your heart is two sizes too small Mr. Grinch, but I'm thinking the real reason you hate the whole Christmas Season is you have a cavity." Hermey da Misfit said smiling... eyeing a new opportunity to perform dental duties.
"I'll say, that is simply a marvelous idea Mr. Grinch! Although I wish to suggest that we do a fancy new game and use those items as prizes instead!" said Mrs. Claus, her eyes twinkling.
"*Hic*, and I have a great *hic* idea for a fun memory matching game!" exclaimed Blitzen, the Drunken Reindeer.
"Will there be dying?" the very lonely looking Ghost of Christmas Past asked Blitzen.
"It's Monday! There's always dying!" the Obnoxious Elf said with a sideways glance to the Grinch and a wink to Ignorance!

Please join the Zany Cast of Christmas Irregulars as they present a brand new game for your Holiday enjoyment! This Monday night, December 20th, 8pm CST (9pm EST), at the MOA Castle on Ice Island, the Majestically Mad crew will host a new game with prizes GALORE!!! It is rumored that the total prize package is valued near 10 Million gold!!!

... oh and... speaking of rumors... I heard Santa may be near???

*Gates will be provided from West Brit Bank throughout the eventing*

auld lang syne
Pronunciation: (ôld' lang z§in', s§in'),

Scot. and North Eng.
1. old times, esp. times fondly remembered.

2. old or long friendship.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be at Majestic Oaks,
And surely there'll be time,
And we'll take a few bids yet,
For auld lang syne!

We sit together every week,
And bid on items fine,
But we wonder through this auction list,
and Sing auld lang syne.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, this year,
for auld lang syne,
we'll give events and kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

And here's a hand, my Great Lakes friends
And give's a hand o' thine
We'll take and sell your items yet
For auld lang syne

Majestic Oaks Weekly

Fees Free February... Take Two ....

As the weeks mid point draws closer, the Majestic Oaks Team readies the house for yet again another tri of weekly events.

As the second week of no fees is upon us, the coffers were quite bare as Soul went into the vault to withdraw this weeks gold sums for giveaways and expenses. Finding himself just a bit short, he turned his sights on the next vault over which was owned by Lady Ethereal herself. It too was barren and he knew better then to look inside his own chest as it too would yield nothing. That left only one choice, the last vault on the end and the most unused was that of DJ Scorpion. It was the hope of the MOA treasurer that Scorp had been more frugal then the rest with his earnings throughout the years.

The inside was definitely not empty and amongst a few gold coins and gems were found over 100 bank notes stacked neatly in one corner. Before Soul could get excited he noticed the color of IOU's, having seen and possessed many of those through his lifetime the fact that this would be a debtors nightmare was simple enough. So back to his own bank to withdraw enough to continue on another week and he would certainly tap Pratt for next months prizes he thought while preparing the auction room for the upcoming week.

We are of course not actually so broke but I thought you might enjoy that little story that has its share of truth intertwined instead of just coming out and hawking another auction week. The fact does remain though that the point must be made so here I go ...

Majestic Oaks Auctions presents to Great Lakes no less then Three weekly events that include two full auctions and a castle event on Monday nights.

On Monday you can find such events as Lets Make a Deal, Chests of Doom and Delight, Majestic Casino Night and a few other innovative shows. Wednesday and Thursday are always auctions from 9pm Eastern and running two hours each night no matter how many in game events the makers throw at us ;p

Some of the finer items this week are going to be a Origins Shard Placed Keep!!!

After this fine home is awarded you can also look forward to some Blood Tiles, Potted Trees, A Saddle, Rewards Robe and Cloaks, Stat Scrolls and whatever else they can think to add after I write this.

Thanks as always for taking 5 minutes to read about upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you all at least one event a week (heck who are we kidding come to two).

For more information or to submit a question or auction an item, you can always find one of us at our website!
Thanks!

Those Sneaky Devils! or This Week at MOA
Posted Tuesday, April 12, 2005

When we last looked in on our characters from MOA, items were disappearing from the private stores and appearing on the tables a few days later for sale. In hopes for better control, Soul Blighter has hired two newly crafted Golems, made by Pratt himself, to guard the vaults from such underhandedness. Rumor had it the Wednesday night manager preferred to see all the items himself before a choice of what to put up the following week was made.

The Lady Emerald and the Lord Flagg were having none of that. Their mischief in the past weeks included sales of over 100 Million worth of true treasures. This week would be no exception as the duo prepared to challenge their ability to sneak past Soul Blighter and the watchman placed between them and their goal.

"Shhh" Emerald whispered as she pulled Flagg forward alongside the walls of MOA Storage house. Flagg wondered again how he had gotten roped into this as he took a pull from his flask to gain courage for what lie ahead.

"Just another example of what happens when I follow women around" he hissed and allowed himself to get into the spirit of the evening, back to the wall, creeping around like a common thief. Emmy giggled and paid him no heed. She gasped sharply as they came around a corner and stood face to face with the unexpected Golem guardians. Emerald pulled back and stopped Flagg where he stood. There would be no way to sneak passed those iron automatons without being noticed and the alarms would surely sound once they detected invaders. Just as the lady was about to give up the quest Flagg had an idea.

Placing a finger to his lips he bade Emerald to stay put and ventured forth into the darkness. At the vault doors, 4 red eyes stared at him unwaveringly and a mechanical voice spoke sharply in the calm evening

"State your access codes for entry to the private area." As he expected, the machine waited for a response.

"An Lor Xen" and the image that was Flagg disappeared.

When the guardians did not get the expected response, a shrill chirping sound rang into the clearing. Emerald was sure this would not be loud enough to draw attention so something else must be alerting Soul or Pratt. In answer to her thoughts, a blue gate opened a few feet from the vault and out stepped Soul Blighter yawning widely as he tried to adjust his vision to take in his surroundings. After a few moments he spoke to one of the golems stating.

"Command", "Access", "Security", "Report". The creature's eyes flashed as he responded blandly,

"Password" The MOA manager looked around before he said the words, "Girl Scout Cookies".

Upon hearing the correct code the guardian's eyes went green and a panel opened in its chest to reveal a screen. Words started to appear and Soul read.

Britannian date: Oct 14, 351
Unauthorized Access
Password Not Recognized
Alarm Sounded
No Intruders Spotted After Failed Attempt

Soul stretched as he closed the panel and reset the golem to guardian mode. A quick chant and the gate reappeared to his stateroom which already made him feel warmer and quite tired again as he stepped into the shifting visage of reality.

Emerald did all she could to keep from an outburst of laughter and then Flagg reappeared speaking quickly the newly found password and asking for the doors to be opened.

It was light in the clearing as the vaults interior was revealed to them. Treasures beyond imagination belonging to all the important submitters MOA represents from the one timer to the patron who brings in cartloads each time. They barely made it inside before the doors swung shut! They always closed seconds after entry and unless you knew how to get out

Flagg spoke the In Lor spell and preceded into the main room. The staff had been busy filling the coffers with fine and unique items since their last visit. Filling two packs quickly the pair smiled at their ingenuity and headed for the one way hidden door that would take them back outside into the forest side and out to the main road to Minoc. They strolled forward towards the auction house in quite the fine mood not even sure what they were brining to the table but secure in the knowledge that Soul would be a sight when he saw his system thwarted once more.

Yes folks come see what they have found this week at Majestic Oaks Auction (held every Wednesday and Thursday for two hours each night) at the main house outside Vesper in the Buc's Portal clearing. Come spend a night with us while our auctioneers take you through UO history with both new and old time items that will sell to the highest bidder.

Gates can be found at Luna, West Brit and other populated banks throughout the evening and many door prizes and trivia gold is always there to award. It is even said once in awhile we all get to have a laugh or two while we are at it.

This week you can expect, as always, the finest baubles for your approval.
Including but not limited to:
- Connected Bottles
- A Server Birth Pitcher
- Full Dye Tub Set
- Full Mini House Deed Set
- Legacy
- Repond Slayer Spell Book with 6% LMC
- Golden Runic Hammers
- Open Book facing South
- Neon Hair Dye

...and even some Blue Bread that is said to be left behind by Blessed Industry when he spent a night in the vault looking for the secret door.

All this and always soo much more from the group who are dedicated to bringing you fun and exciting events every Monday (from the Castle) Wednesday and Thursday always at 9 Eastern.

A Strange Ending to an Event... or is it a beginning?
Posted Friday, April 15, 2005

MOA's scavenger hunt on Friday night began ordinarly enough. This time, we were not handing out a book of clues, but instead hunting for certain items that had been planted around the ranger huts East of Skara Brae.

The first thing the participants were asked to find were 5 food items that each had 5 letters in their name. Odin came in first for that round, followed by Matrix and Shadow. In round two, Toxic was first to come up with 3 things you can build with; Storm and Ravnos came in second. The third round was looking for 2 things you play with. Silly Goose won that one, with Aksana and Neptune coming in second place. Round 4 was a search for 4 items starting with the letter B. Silly Goose and Aksana were first and second again, with Virtue taking third. The final round, 2 things you can fight with, was won by Virtue, with Storm and Matrix taking 2nd and 3rd. All first place winners won 100k, 2nd and 3rd place taking 50k each.

Before we could get to the grand finale, however, there was a strange interruption. A badly shaken man in a hooded robe approached the group. Introducing himself as Lash Valar, he begged for our help. It seems that as he sat in his house reading, "a vicious flock of cows" stampeded through the door, threatening to trample the man.
In his haste to flee, Valar dropped the document he was reading. Apparently he was very concerned with the safety of this document among so many berserk bovines. Fortunately, the gathered contestants were more than happy to oblige, and the entire group thundered down the road.

What a sight met us when we reached the house! 40 or 50 cows were milling about, knocking over furniture and eating the draperies! The valiant group made short work of them, and the cows were quickly subdued.

From the Desk of Natasha
Tuseday night, I joined the Lake Superior cast of MOA and had a great time.

The Lake Superior patrons are a great bunch of people and know how to have fun! Among them were Cap McRoy, Raver Devua, Artemis, Woodsong, Paro Parada, Lord Pembroke, Shara and many, many others.

Blue Haze listened closely to the rules and in turn she won the first 25k gold give away. Chaotic and Sir Will battled over 60k ingots, however Sir Will did manage to outbid Chaotic and was the lucky winner. Blue Haze took home 10 very nice unenhanced luck items. So here's hoping his sewing kits and hammers are strong and kind!

20k Iron Ingots and 10k of each other color ingot were available, a bidding war ensued with the likes of Chaotic, Raver Devau, Mace Bell Jr., Andaril, Edgar and Raistlin. However, they were outdone by YouKnowImHot, who took them all. Raver Devua is the proud new owner of a 14x14 Skara Brae Trammel House for the cool price of 1.4 million!

Everyone had a great time tonight, and I had a lot of fun watching things unfold at Lake Superior!

Twas the Night of an Auction

From the Pen of Ophelia

Twas a Thurdsay night,
a mid-Spring eve,
a notice of an outstanding event,
I received!

There were prizes and gold,
Fun for all kinds!
Where patrons and warriors,
Could go to unwind.

It was an MOA auction
With me in the lead,
Listing items and bidders,
And winners, indeed!

There was DEADPOOL and FiFi,
Kuan Ti and Scorp,
And of course who could live,
Without my witty retorts!

I saw armor and weapons,
And colored nets too;
There was free gold and cash,
It could have been you!

Two million we gave,
To some knowledgeable guests,
Who answered our queries
When put to the test.

Carpatheian won an anvil,
And Nord nabbed a cow,
Nervous Capt. America grabbed a shield,
After wiping his brow.

So come see us again,
We are quite the delight,
Come join in the fun,
On next Thursday night!

This Week at MOA
Posted May 11, 2005

A Lone figure stood on the deck of the Large Dragon ship, which bore the name MOA's Day Off, the title was more pipe dream than reality but it suited her just fine. DJ Scorp cast his line into the sea again and again in search of deep-sea treasures or maybe even some minnows to place in Pratt's pay bag. Scorp's thoughts were as always on the upcoming auctions, but at least the view was better and the air more clear then behind that auction pit and in the same room as Muntz's feet. Visions of the items pile Soul had just sorted through were coming into place in his mind, and as he redrew his pole, the hook caught his leg on the back swing. Pulling it free allowed blood to trickle onto the deck. So much for fishing with a clear head! Scorp turned the boat back towards Vesper and the slip that would take him within walking distance from the house that had claimed his life so long ago.

When Scorp came hobbling in he was more than happy to see Ophelia and N Muntz already hard at work getting ready for this week's show. He was greeted and told to go away, because they most certainly had things under control. Unsure but tired, he acquiesced and retired to a cot upstairs. The blood-stained leg gave Muntz the idea that it was time to unload the blood tiles lying around in the chests, more than one had gathered waiting their turn to sell. Ophelia, however, was in a more colorful mood as she admired a pile of skulls in the corner while at the same time lifting bottles of colored hair dye out of secured containers. The two acted as automatons for an hour and when it was done sat back and saw that they had created, and it was good...

Ships and SkullsThe items chosen do not reflect a full list; items are always being added and there will be more than a few great things added before the auction each week, thanks to our generous submitters. We have a Skull Pile (an old tile that used to spawn), Blood tiles in varying Directions, Half a dozen old school Colored Hair dye bottles, Many Plants, Buckets, A set of 17 Double Slayer Bows, 2 Colored Big Fish caught by DJ Scorp himself and titled so, The Ship Model rare, Many Statues of all years, Soul stone Fragment Tokens, Khaldun Light, Speckled Eggs and soo much more!

Majestic Oaks Auction runs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 Eastern as well as coordinated weekly events every Monday at the MOA castle. For a full list visit us at http://www.uo-moa.net Thanks from the MOA auction family !

Die Rebel Scum!!!
Posted Tueday, May 17, 2005

It appears MOA has been bitten by the Star Wars bug! Instead of our usual tuxedo clad dealers, patrons were met at the castle by the Dark Side of the force.

The Emperor (Keeper) waved his hands over the dice at the Hi/Low table while Darth Vadar (Jo Jo) played Jedi Mind games with our dart throwing patrons. However, the power of the Dark Side wasn't enough to overtake Matrix as he had tricks of his own. Summoning all the metaclorines in the universe, Matrix tossed a double bullseye and took home a One Million Gold Piece Check!

Pictured from left to right: Asajj Ventress, The Emperor, Mara Jade, Zam Wessell, Darth Vadar, and Aurra Sing

Darth Maul (Walter), Boba Fett (Kelwyn), and Asajj Ventress (Grendlyn) gated patrons to the castle while Mara Jade (Dosa) poured deadly Russian drinks, Zam Wessell (Natasha) played Roulette, and the incredibly hot Aura Sing tossed the Dice. Storm Troopers, pretending to be bank check vendors, guarded each exit.

The oddest costume of the evening was found on Monty Hall himself who showed up as Jar Jar Binks. He must not have understood the Dark Side theme??? No harm done. Jar Jar's presence provided much needed target practice for his Evil Empire cohorts!

It seems like Jar Jar did get a message to his lily livered Rebel Alliance. They will be in action on Thursday at the auction house with Yoda auctioneering. Both Wednesday and Thursday auctions are sure to have lots of Star Wars Trivia, and cash rewards for most creative Star Wars costumes. Rumor has it that MOA will be dropping at least 1 Million gold in prizes so grab a light saber and join in the fun!

The Emperor Speaks!
Posted Wednesday, May 25, 2005
The festival of the stars was in full swing as Pratt tried unsuccessfully to bring his vision back into focus. After some effort, he decided nothing less then sleep would help with this problem. Soul laughed as he watched his old friend trying to stop the world from spinning and he wondered if Pratt even knew the girl who now sat in his lap.

Grigory was obviously thinking the same as he eyed her ruefully and the females present from the MOA staff were clearly displeased at the bosses behavior. Pratt did not care as he and Kryptonite shared a hearty laugh over some of last week's Star Wars escapades during the auction.

"The Emperor has Spoken" Pratt yelled as the barmaid fell from his lap onto the ground. At this point DJ Scorp was up and the two managers were faux fighting with light sabers sounds effects and all. Kryptonite and some of the patrons that had decided to sit with the MOA crew a bit took their leave seeing the chaos building. Smart move that turned out to be as the fake fight overturned two tables and a keg of the finest ale in all the lands. At this wasted beverage, Blessed Industry was actually in tears.

Ethereal tired of this childishness, grabbed the sleeve of Flagg, and the two went off towards Vesper and the MOA house. Someone had to do some work the Head Cashier/Event Manager thought to herself as they left the noise of the festival behind. Since the others were busy merrymaking, this auction would be as she liked and she might just teach Pratt a fine lesson and sell off some of his most prize treasures reserved for special auctions only. At this suggestion, Flagg blanched, wondering again what he had gotten himself into yet again, cursing under his breath for not drinking more whilst he had the chance. "Well heck let's see what kind of trouble we can get into" he stated as he allowed Ethereal to lead him into the private chambers that she most certainly should not have a key to. Tons of sparkling items assaulted his vision as the door swung open.

Ethereal spoke ...

"Let's take the Marble Table, The Bin Laden V'Day card, The Rare Purple Bottle - that will make the crowd cry. Grab that Blessed Engraved Ring. Let's see.... the Open Book, Some Barbed Kits, Blood Tiles, Thin Hay, Ring of the Elements, Eye Of Newt, Full Set of Tree Ornament Jewelry. Let's take that Bushel, and some of those Rare Statues Pratt likes so much".

Flagg was trying to see her passed the armload of items that obscured his view. He clearly could not carry more then he had but she was not done. "Uus Mani", she yelled and his load got easier to bear while she added more items were on.

Crystal Balls, Potted Trees, Some Armor Pieces that Glow with Power, Necro Regs, Blessed Sandals and a bag full of surprises that made Ethy smirk as she lifted it. Presuming this would be enough, she asked Flagg to drag it all behind the counter and scatter it about.

"Let Soul sort it out when the party is over I am done for today."

On the way out, a rune atop a silk cushion caught her eye - a gold key listed it as Felucca Keep for Sale. Now no one had told her about this! Grabbing the rune and key for the second largest house in these realms, Ethereal strode from the anti-chamber, happily wrapped up in anticipation for this week's auction.

The next morning was very loud and a little blurry as Pratt awoke slumped against a marble table portion that had been brought into the pit somehow. Soul coughed himself into the new day as visions of rolled tobacco brought back the wheezing and a bit of dizziness. Blessed refused to rise at all, pulling his cloak tighter about and trying to ignore the world coming to life around him. DJ Scorp was unconscious and snoring loudly. It was clear he would not be alert for some time so they didn't even bother to whisper for his benefit.

Grigory had already left, or maybe he never made it back to the house at all. None of them could recall. It did seem however that they put some thought into this week's auction at some point since so many great items were locked down all around. A bit surprised they were that they had chosen so many True Rares. The men took stock of just what had been admitted to this week's list - secretly wishing they could be in the audience themselves.

A glance at Soul's Journal revealed the following items to be sold this week.

Marble Table Section
A Felucca Keep (rune is locked down at MOA on cashiers table)
Blood Tiles
An Open Book
GM Inscribed Ring reading "Amor Vincit Omnia Et Nos Cedamus Amori" (can be Locked Down!)
A Valentines Card from Bin Laden Himself
Barbed Runic Pieces and Kits
Necro Reagents
Rare Named Christmas Statues
A Full Set of Tree Ornament Jewelry
A Bushel
A Server Birth Pink Bottle (maybe not until next week BUT VERY RARE)

...and more surprises being added as of this writing.

Posted October 14, 2005
From the Desk of Pratt
Greetings friends of the Great Lakes shard!
On the date of October 14th, Friday evening at 9 by the eastern sky, Red Devil's Auction tower will re-open its doors to the Felucca Facet in the hopes that this landmark house can once again be shared by all. RD's was the first auction house on this or any shard; he pioneered the event we now try to imitate across the realm, our respect to the man himself as we deign to try and pick up where he left off. An experienced team of auction persons is prepared to breath life back into these walls as players of Blue and Red alike gather to share stories of battle and bid on a few baubles. All are welcome to come enjoy the event so long as peace is kept and one behaves in a way that does not do harm to any other patron of the house. Of course this is Fel and we are advising all peoples to adhere by these guidelines:

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Be mindful of your surroundings and expect attacks and damage and probably death.

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Threats have been made against the staff and attendees of this event, be warned!

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Defenders will be in place to ensure you can enjoy the show if you so choose since this is a free world and you get to choose your own path.

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Respect the house, it is blessed and will be open for your pleasure. We have strict assurances our GM's will not tolerate any determined grief of this event, be warned!

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Come out to have fun, you may fight to your hearts content OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE, or you can hang around and place your bids on some fine items.

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

For those of you who recall the old days this was not your grandma's auction. Many challenges face us on this facet as they did back then. Together we CAN make this happen.

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

Every other Friday to start RD's will open again until it is no longer needed but we are all betting this is just the first step to reliving the old glory days.

And finally ...

Bring nothing with you that you don't want to insure or lose...

You will very probably get killed, if you have nothing to lose nor insurance money for your attackers to gain then you are the best off.

Come one and all as we take a visit back to when times were simpler, when you had to watch your back as you pulled that iron towards town. A time when a man Named Red Devil decided that a barter event would benefit us all, and so it began.. And so we continue...

Halowe'en at the Castle

From the Desk of Dosa Ravengard
I was struck speechless as I entered the Monday Madness castle today. Seems ghouls and goblins have been weaving their magic in preparation for the Halloween Spooktacular this Monday. Seems the theme of the night is Chez Death (House of Death).
As I move through the castle, I must step over body parts and entrails to make my way to the deep recesses of the castle dungeon. I am looking for some special items for our Halloween party… scythes, trivia books, costumes for the crew, goodie bags, and the all important Checks for the Bag Art and Costume contest.
Join us Monday at 9pm Eastern for a howlingly spooky night on Ice Island as the MOA gang brings to you a Halloween Spooktacular!
Be sure to bring your prepared Bag Art for judging and wear a spiffy costume!
Food and drink will be available for all!
